Mountain Hammock Camping – Site selection and some wild huckleberry action.
It’s been a while since I took a few days to just unplug, wander, and explore. This trip was supposed to be all about covering serious mileage on foot, but plot twist I tweaked my ankle on day two. Cue the dramatic music. That little mishap forced me to slow down and stick closer to the vehicle, roaming only a few easy areas. Not exactly my usual go-hard-or-go-home style, but sometimes the universe has other plans.
In this video, I share some tips on setting up a hammock on a hillside or slope (because gravity loves to make things interesting). I also make a fire, boil some water for dinner, and keep things simple. It’s not an epic adventure, but it’s a good reminder that even low-key trips can be rewarding.
Fun fact: I’ve been hammock camping for about eight years, and I’ve only ever owned one hammock the Hennessy Expedition Hammock (I believe it’s the A-sym Zip model). This thing has been through the wringer… used, abused, and still going strong. If that’s not a testament to quality, I don’t know what is.
So, whether you’re a seasoned hammock camper or just curious about life off the ground, join me for a laid-back journey into the basics of hillside hammocking. Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones you didn’t plan for.
