Winter Survival Shelter – Firewood processing and snow preparations
I was excited to head up to the survival shelter this past weekend. From a distance, the surrounding mountains looked like they’d been dusted with a perfect blanket of snow… just the kind of winter wonderland I’d been waiting for. But as I got closer to the shelter reality hit, the snow line was about 1,000 feet higher than my location. So much for my snowy escape!
But hey, every cloud has a silver lining. The lack of snow gave me the perfect chance to wrap up some crucial preps. Let’s be real after an exhausting uphill slog through snow the last thing I want to do is scavenge for firewood and chop it up. Been there done that and it’s not fun. This time I made sure to stockpile plenty of wood and fine tune a few other systems to make life easier when the snow finally arrives.
Of course, I’m sure there will be more tweaks as I dive deeper into snow season. That’s half the fun, right? Constant upgrades, experiments, and the satisfaction of knowing I’m ready for whatever winter throws at me. Bring on the snow!
