Off grid living – Winter is finally over!
Winter was an adventure, but I’ll be honest it got a little rough towards the end. Don’t get me wrong, I love being immersed in nature, embracing the solitude and even the occasional challenges that come with living off grid in the middle of nowhere. There’s something deeply rewarding about it.
What really started to wear on me though, was the daily grind of trying to balance a wild lifestyle with a career. Four-hour commutes on unmaintained Winter roads, endless snow clearing, snowmobiling, backpacking, hauling water… it all adds up. By the end of the season I was feeling the weight of it.
But now, spring is here and the snow is finally melting. Blue skies are breaking through, wildlife is stirring and I can feel a renewed sense of energy. There’s a little more “pep” in my step and I’m ready to dive into some cabin projects.
There’s so much to do but that’s part of what makes life here so fulfilling. Life is good, and I’m grateful for the rhythm of the seasons and the chance to live this way. Here’s to warmer days, new beginnings and the simple joys of off grid living.
